Extreme Flooding Overtakes Houston!

I've blogged too many times about flooding in Houston. Today, I do so again.

Massive rainfall triggered by thunderstorms this morning has dropped 10.71" of rain in one spot of the city (according to HCOEM official gauges). Fox News is showing aerial shots of many vehicles under water, and reporting that schools in the area are closed and a nursing home has been evacuated. More news and a couple of photos are available on Google News.
AccuWeather.com RadarPlus screenshots below shows Doppler-estimated precipitation over 10 inches near the KHOU airport.

The cause for the slow-moving storms is simply a lack of "direction" from meteorological entities.
Continued moisture influx from the Gulf, combined with intense heat over the state, will lead to additional flooding Tuesday.
