ORIGINAL POST:

The NHC [JessePedia] stopped maintaining data on Hurricane Noel early yesterday afternoon when he transitioned to an extratropical storm (though oddly enough, they did send in a recon plane overnight). But this morning Noel's still kicking, big time, throwing 37-foot waves overnight at Buoy #41048 (between North Carolina and Bermuda), following wind gusts of over 60 knots yesterday afternoon.

This page will continued to be updated today if Noel kicks up higher waves or winds.

On land, winds are gusting over 50 mph already in the Nantucket, Massachusetts area. Hopefully we'll get some video footage of that area and bring that to you later today.

NOEL'S GREATEST HITS 11/2 - 11/3 (AS OF 11 AM):

Wind: 60 knots (Buoy #41048)

Pressure: 28.98" Hg feet (Buoy #41048)

Noel Wind and Waves - Nov. 2, 2007 - Waves move in from the Atlantic Ocean seen from the beach at Ocracoke Island, N.C. on Friday, Nov. 2, 2007. Wind gusts of nearly 50 mph hit offshore Friday as Hurricane Noel followed a northeastward path in the Atlantic Ocean that was expected to bring the storm parallel to North Carolina's coast.
