Early Morning Ice Report
At 6:15 a.m. Eastern, the Pro.AccuWeather.com radar showed widespread freezing rain across the Carolinas, southwest Virginia and northwest Georgia.
30,000 are without electricity in Atlanta and thousands more are dark in northwest South Carolina in the Greenville/Spartanburg area.

Observations from government reporting stations indicated the same thing. On the image below, you can see the ice (ZR & UP*), snow (S), and rain (R).

*UP = Unknown precipitation. Government sensors are often unable to discern what type of precipitation is falling, but UP usually indicates either extremely sleet (ice pellets), or freezing rain.
