Disney Narrowly Misses Big Flood
Extreme rainfall occurred yesterday afternoon in the Kissimmee, Florida area as a series of storms continually reformed over the area (download a Quicktime radar animation). This included the edge of the Disney complex. Rough boundaries of the complex are shown below in light blue (I have a detailed boundary map in RadarPlus which has been turned off here for security purposes).
This is an example of the kind of detail that you can get in AccuWeather.com RadarPlus, which can help protect your business or property from unexpected weather.
According to the Doppler-estimated precipitation map shown above, the edges of the park received more than two inches of rain in a short amount of time, but the park narrowly missed 6-8 inches of rain just to the east over I-4. The deluge did not make the news, but blog reader Tom from Lakeland, Florida noted that Kissimmee reported 5.50" of rain yesterday.
