Disambiguation: Not THAT Beryl
As I did with Alberto, I'll explore some disambiguation of the word Beryl today, by telling you of other famous people, places and things with the same name.
There have been tropical storms named Beryl four times before in the Atlantic:
Beryl 1982 - Atlantic Only
Beryl 1988 - Formed off Louisiana Coast
Beryl 1994 - Formed off Alabama Coast
Beryl 2000 - Formed in Gulf
I have to admit that when someone says "Beryl" (howEVER they say it) it doesn't bring anything to mind. I vaguely remember Tropical Storm Beryl hitting Florida in 2000, but that's about it.
Obviously I've forgotten my high school geology class, because first and foremost, Beryl is a rock... er, mineral.
BERYL ROCKS!
Keeping the geology theme, Beryl Spring is one of the hottest springs in Yellowstone Park. Six degrees of separation: Yellowstone Park is where my former Project Manager here at AccuWeather works now.
Beryl, the Spring
A Beryl WZ96 is also a type of rifle. And finally, there was once a cartoon character named Beryl the Peril, which is no doubt a headline you'll see on our website, or some media site, before this storm is over. The character was a girl, I think, although she also resembles Bumblebee Man.
