Denver Window Washers Wild Ride
High winds in downtown Denver took a couple of window washers for a wild ride yesterday, slamming their platform against a skyscraper multiple times. You've got to see the video.
A window washer platform loses control in the wind as it breaks out windows with workers onboard, Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, in Denver. The two window washers were on a scaffold 12-stories above the street before the pair were saved by firefighters. The men rode the scaffold for about ten minutes as it swayed along the building from side to side, breaking windows. (AP Photo/The Denver Post, Will Singleton)
Here are some wind gusts from the Denver area yesterday (over 40 mph shown):
CDOT Walnut @ I-24 Station (CO006): 57 mph
CDOT Evans @ Santa Fe (CO005): 43 mph
Broomfield (CW1293): 43 mph
Denver Centennial (KAPA): 43 mph
CDOT I-70 @ C-470 West (CO001): 42 mph
CDOT I-225 @ Mississippi (CO002): 42 mph
Denver International (KDEN): 41 mph
With the tunnelling effects of downtown buildings, even a wind under 40 mph could wreak this type of havoc.
Ironically, two other men from the same company were injured yesterday when their platform fell on top of them while they were on a roof, according to The Denver Channel.
