Deep South, Florida Snow Hype
The question this morning is: Could most of the Deep South and even the Florida Panhandle get a snow storm next week? The answer is yes... if you ask the DGEX model. It's outputting some truly impressive maps this morning, including heavy snow across nearly the entire Southeast, with the exception of the Florida peninsula.
A major ice storm will be in progress as well, across Virginia and central North Carolina, according to the model.
The model also shows a strong line of heavy snow moving through the entire East Coast on the back end of the storm, including the I-95 cities.
Of course, this is only one model, and we're talking a long way out in the future, so don't make plans to build a snowman in Florida yet. For what it's worth, the only other model which has this type of map is the GFS, and it does show snow cruising through Alabama, but then lifts the storm to the Northeast.
