Death Valley To Approach Record 134 Degrees?
We think Death Valley has a shot at hitting 133 degrees today.
Note that 134 was the all-time U.S. (if not world)* heat record set there in 1913. However, some people dispute that record, saying that a sandstorm or improper siting of the thermometer resulted in that reading. In 1960 and 1998, Death Valley reported 129 degrees and these readings are quoted by some as the more believable record temperature.
CURRENTLY AT DEATH VALLEY:
They also have a real-time weather station there which you can watch on the Internet. In the last month, that station has only been up to 119, and that was yesterday (the official station there recorded 126, according to NWS sources), who predict the same today.

It's funny to see the graphics on the website for this, I'm just not used to seeing predictions this high:

*A claim of 136 degrees comes from Africa but it depends on who you talk to if that is considered official or not.
