Death Valley Hits 129 Degrees
Death Valley may have not broken the all-time 134-degree record but it tied the 129-degree record that some people believe (see this blog entry for information on DV records) on Friday -- see official report [PERMALINK], with 122 measured (again) at the unofficial but real-time station Friday (121 today). Blog reader Mark says he remembers DV also hit 129 during a heat wave in 2005. As they say, it's a dry heat - the humidity was 4% on Friday afternoon.
More hot weather is on tap for the area this week, so we might see another shot at 130 yet.
