Dean Officially Joins The Cat 5 Club
BREAKING NEWS: The NHC [JessePedia] says at 8 PM: "DATA FROM THE AIR FORCE RESERVE HURRICANE HUNTER AIRCRAFT CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING HURRICANE DEAN INDICATE THAT MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS HAVE INCREASED TO 160 MPH... MAKING DEAN A POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC CATEGORY FIVE HURRICANE ON THE SAFFIR-SIMPSON HURRICANE SCALE." Below is a high-res satellite image of this beast from around 3 PM Eastern Time:
Dean joins this list of only 28 Category 5 Storms Since 1886 (let me know if I'm missing any). Buoy 42056 has already gusted to 67 mph and it's 110 miles north of the storm!
