Deadly Tornado Strikes Eastern North Carolina
UPDATE (11/18): The NWS in Wilmington, NC has issued a report containing photos and radar data for the EF-2 and EF-0 tornadoes in Dillon, SC and St. Pauls, NC. The NWS in Raleigh, NC has issued a detailed PDF containing the tracks of the tornadoes in their area.
UPDATE: The NWS has confirmed an EF-3 tornado near Elm City, and an EF-2 tornado near Kenly.
ORIGINAL POST: A deadly storm system moved across eastern North Carolina in the middle of Friday night, sparking a series of Tornado reports. WRAL-TV has live video coverage of the aftermath, along with photos, aerial videos. They say the tornado was an EF-2 but the NWS says it is still investigating. Below is a map of the reports along the track of the storm. Another article also mentions a possible tornado to the southwest in Robeson County, NC as well, which is not indicated on the map below, and the NWS in WIlmington has confirmed an EF-0 tornado near Saint Pauls, NC.
I have also captured a radar snap from our Enhanced Radar showing the "hook echo" and photos from the Associated Press.
According to the StormMatrix, There were six tornado reports last night, including two fatality reports issued by the National Weather Service last night, one in Kenly, NC and one in Wilson County near Elm City:
*** 1 FATAL *** A HOUSE WAS DESTROYED AT 3850 LONDON CHURCH ROAD. ONE FATALITY HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY EMERGENCY SERVICES AT THE SCENE.
*** 1 FATAL *** AT LEAST 10 HOMES HAVE BEEN SEVERELY DAMAGED TO DESTROYED IN THE KENLY AREA NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF SCOTT ROAD AND BRIDGERS ROAD. CARS HAVE BEEN OVERTURNED
