Deadly Floods in Ethiopia, India
USAToday reports that flooding has killed 250 in Ethiopia and 100 in India during recent flooding.
10,000 were homeless in Ethiopia (the flooding there is said to be the worst ever). The flooding there was concentrated around Dire Dawa (map). The river there burst its banks in a flash flood six days ago. Photos are available from the USAToday article and Google News.
Over 312,000 people had been evacuated in India. The flooding hit near Surat. The flooding has been ongoing since the beginning of the month but came to a head several days ago when the city of Surat (map)was cut off from the rest of the country by heavy rains.
NASA's TRMM Satellite estimated 420mm of rain (16.53") had fallen in the last week.
