Dayton, Ohio Tornado Tuesday
There was a tornado in Dayton, Ohio Tuesday. I didn't get a chance to mention it on the blog (was planning to yesterday, before Tappan Zee), but I wanted to mention it today because I think it's significant that both NYC and Dayton were hit this week. No, it's not Global Warming, it's just coincidence, but I thought it was interesting enough to mention.
Several businesses including a Wal-Mart were damaged, but no major injuries were reported (WDTN | more).
Radar movies from AccuWeather.com RadarPlus are available here.
STORM-RELATIVE VELOCITY AT TIME OF TORNADO
As you can see above, a weak velocity couplet could be seen on radar (see yesterday's explanation of velocity couplets):
Officially, six tornadoes may have touched down but only three have been confirmed (WHIOTV). That article lists an F0 in Maineville (NWS Statement), an F1 in Carlisle, and an F1 near the Dayton Mall (NWS Statement).
