Dangerous, Severe Outbreak For SC/SE
If you look at The SPC [JessePedia] risk areas for today and tomorrow, you might think, well, it's not that bad, it's just one small Moderate Risk for today. I have combined the "Day 1" and "Day 2" maps below:
But the risk areas are large and contain a lot of big Southern Plains and Southeast cities: Tulsa, Wichita*, Shreveport, New Orleans*, Little Rock, Fort Smith, Memphis, Birmingham, Atlanta, Nashville, Columbia (SC), Charlotte, and even Raleigh. Although technically in-between the risk areas, McGee, Mississippi, recently hit by tornadoes, could see more severe weather. Add to that the fact that much of the risk area mimics the "unusually deadly Dixie Alley" area that we talked about last week, and I think that this outbreak could be "TV-worthy" -- in other words you may be seeing scenes of destruction and hearing about large areas without power by the weekend -- even if the outbreak only spins up a few tornadoes, there will be widespread wind and hail. Below is a video by Dan Kottlowski.
