Christmas Day Snow Storm?
I apologize for that headline, but people are emailing in to ask about the potential for a Christmas Day storm in the Northeast. The map below isn't too specific so I'll tell you what the computer forecast models from our Pro site are saying. Overall, it doesn't look like a really big deal right now, but the weather always changes.
The GFS says that the initial storm, spreading in to the Northeast late on Christmas Day, will be all rain with the possible exception of the higher elevations in northern New England:
Then it believes that light snow will follow the storm on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The DGEX model doesn't think that the coastal storm will merge with the northern storm so there will be light rain in the Northeast on Christmas Day, again the exception being the higher elevations of northern New England.
It also believes light snow will follow. Both models appear to think that an Alberta Clipper will bring more significant snow to northern New England on Tuesday.
