Central PA First Rainbow of the Season, Plus Rain Shafts
The first rainbow of the spring storm season appeared in State College, Pa., yesterday afternoon. I took this photo from my back porch:
Occurring just before dusk (What's the best time to see a rainbow?), the rainbow was enhanced by the cellular nature of the quick-moving storm, which dragged rain behind it while the sun was out. As the rainbow faded, beautiful rain shafts (actually, they may have been hail or snow, they were pretty white) fanned out behind the storm.
We will continue to be vulnerable to occasional thunderstorms -- and rainbows -- through mid-week.
