Cell Phones Vs. Tornadoes
A Nebraska University Editorial page user posted this unsolicited testimonial for the AccuWeather.com Cell Phone application:
Last week was officially "Severe Weather Awareness Week"... Ironically enough, there was an actual tornado on Thursday.
As I write this, I'm checking my cell phone for the one program that came in real handy during Tornadic Thursday: Accuweather.com Premium v3.0.
I ended up checking the program's radar and alerts every 15 minutes. This allowed me to catch the severe thunderstorm warning we had at about 2 p.m., and the details of the first tornado warning we had at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
I agree. and only could watch the evening weather report on TV (one channel only!), I could never dream of holding a current radar map in my hand. And now we even have streaming video with real people to your cell phone on Verizon VCast! Ain't technology great!
But that's what happened, and it does come in quite handy. AccuWeather.com Premium Wireless (then 2.0) helped me make decisions that led to my bringing my camera to snap my first funnel cloud photo in 2004.
No matter what carrier you have, we probably have weather for your phone. Check out all of our offerings for cell phones today.
