Chris Burt [JessePedia], Author of "Extreme Weather" points out this statement by the NWS on Wednesday:

That's really an incredible, possibly record, temperature difference of 59 degrees. I couldn't find the Lightstation reading online, but I did confirm at least a 62-114 range - a 52 degree difference, in between the Seco station (Data | Google Map] and Whale Point [Data | Google Map] -- around 18.5 miles according to Google Earth.
