Blogitis: M. Night`s Evil Wind
Bless me readers, for I did not blog yesterday. It has been 54 days since my last blogless day (May 18th, Yard Sale day).
Although I am starting to feel the Pre-Vacation crunch (I'm heading south to My Beach the last week in July), I just can't blame it for my blogless day Friday. The blame goes squarely on a day full of meetings at AccuWeather, followed by a rare trip to the movies for my wife and I.
Usually Fridays hold the average 1-3 meetings per day for me, but my boss is on vacation next week, so I was in back-to-back meetings from 12-4 yesterday, after giving a 2-hour morning tour to some folks from Pittsburgh and the LeHigh Valley here in Pennsylvania. So I was barely at my computer during the day, then in the evening my wife and I went to see the new M. Night Shyamalan flick "The Happening" (which we had been wanting to see, I am a huge Shyamalan fan).
It involved a number of interesting weather themes - the intro credits were in front of several lengthy timelapse videos of cumulus clouds - very cool. And, without giving too much away, let's just say that the wind was the villain in this movie, and I thought he did a pretty good job of making an invisible force of weather terrify on the big screen.
It was, in some ways, the classic M. Night film, set in Eastern Pennsylvania, with a old-school classic horror-film feeling to it. However, the ending was disappointing, and I fear that M. Night has now become famous enough to do "stuff he likes" which the public does not. Overall, I rate it at the lower portion of his list so far, even though it was an excellent film.
