Blogitis: Crisis Mode, Breaking News
I'm always behind on my list of things to do, but this week seems unusually severe and I am in what I would call "crisis mode" today. This is what has led to the totally lame and infrequent blog entries this week, and for this I apologize. It also will cause Friday Featured Fotos to not be seen this week.
Before I move on though, some breaking news...
The founder of the Weather Channel would like to bring legal action against Al Gore on the subject of Global Warming. Henry (PREMIUM | PRO) has severely downgraded our weekend Northeast snowstorm, though the Forum users aren't convinced.
SIGH... It's one of those days...
And now, to elaborate a little more on what I said above, and to give you an insight on some of the things I do here, among the 2,352 items on my "To Do" list (not kidding - hundreds are "emergency status")...
- Administrating the Forums (which seems to be taking up all my free time)
- Bug Fixes on the Forums (including bringing back the "mini-weather" display)
- Research on Forecast Model Accuracy
- Review our New Company-Wide Research & Development Plan
- Specifying Methods to Better Promote RadarPlus and Models on Premium
- Setting Up an Internal Alternate Radar Display For the Forecasters Based on Old vs. New Colors
- Adding a Mount Washington and Forums Promotion to All Blogs
- Reviewing, Consulting and Providing Content For Our New Kidz Site
- Reviewing Competitive Radar Software
- Reviewing and Setting Up a New Blog Template Page*
- Helping Paul Yeager Add Entries to the Global Warming Blog (Brett is out for a while)
- Setting up a SelectWarn System For News & Blog Graphics
- Integrating a New Historical Precipitation Radar into the Sites
And all of this comes with my normal workload of answering customer support, Forum and blog reader emails, and consulting with various internal folks on content and community features for our website, which is a full-time job in itself.
*The new blog pages at AccuWeather.com, coming soon, will feature common blogging tools that we have been missing, such as "comments," "permalinks," "blogrolls" and more, plus it will bring our Premium and Pro users the full-featured "extras" that they currently can't see, such as "Where Are You?", "What Am I Doing?", "The J-CAM" and more.
