Briefly this evening, the Blizzard of 2006 has paralyzed the Eastern Seaboard. Nine airports are closed, hundreds of thousands are without power. Both New York City and Hartford, Connecticut have seen their second highest snowfall ever. Winds have gusted over 50 mph in Massachusetts and 60 mph off the coast at Buoy 44004, where waves have been reported to be 22 feet high. Snow drifts to 5 feet high have been reported by the NWS in Philadelphia.

The heavy snow is still falling this afternoon from New York to Maine and will be moving into eastern Canada tonight.
