Big Thunderstorm on Cam, 3-D Radar, Satellite
UPDATE: Speaking of technology, you can now watch Typhoon Dolphin make landfall on a small island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean (Guam), via GRLevel3 software, or at the NWS website. Here's a screenshot from this afternoon:

Ten years ago, I couldn't imagine how we'd be able to observe local weather today. For example, on Monday, a large thunderstorm popped up west of AccuWeather HQ here in State College, Pennsylvania. I noticed it first on the AccuCam webcam:
Then I took a 3-D look at the storm on radar via GRAnalyst software:
And finally (I had to wait a little bit) I saw the storm on the MODIS satellite image (an extremely high-resolution visible satellite image which is taken twice a day in the U.S.) in Google Earth:
