Beryl Wrapup: A Quiet, Lame Storm
There have been no reports of high winds, waves, or damage from Tropical Storm Beryl. She was a weak storm and the worst part stayed far offshore. Wind readings from both official and amateur stations were not impressive; Nantucket's airport gusted to 44 mph, which dwarfed amateur readings; offshore, a buoy gusted to 47 mph. Even the rain stayed offshore (see Doppler-estimated precipitation map below, right).
Our people were even on location in Cape Cod and, although we did our best and were in a good location, we didn't see a lot of action.

Data was hard to come by because every NOAA coastal station between Long Island and Nantucket was out of service during the storm (shown in red below).
