Baseball Hail, Tornadoes Hit Midwest
More than 3 dozen tornado reports have been filed with the NWS this evening so far. Multiple injuries and damage reported in Missouri and Alabama. See tornado reports on the StormMatrix and news stories for more specific information. Over 130 Tornado Warnings and 100 Severe Thunderstorm Warnings have gone out today. It's getting ugly out there, folks. As of 6 PM Central Time, 29 Tornado Warnings (including some near Chicago) and 22 Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were in effect, along with 6 Tornado Watches.
Over 20 tornadoes have been reported (mostly in Illinois and Missouri), along with baseball sized hail (4.25" diameter) in Missouri. Winds were clocked to 72 mph in Illinois. Over 100 Tornado Warnings and 80 Severe Thunderstorm warnings have been issued.
Two people have been injured by a tornado in Missouri but there are no news articles about it yet.
