Awesome Fog Timelapse Video
Local storm chaser Ron "R-Factor" Shawley sent in this really neat timelapse video of fog rolling up the Alleghany mountains west of Johnstown, Pennsylvania yesterday in front of the massive thunderstorms that powered out of Pittsburgh. This is one of the coolest videos I've seen yet on the Photo Gallery. Ron says that people observing the storm from his location were really freaking out.
UPDATE: Henry Margusity gave a meteorological explanation of this fog event on his blog.
This is about 8 minutes of video compressed down to 50 seconds. Believe it or not, this was accomplished with a $200 camera and a $30 piece of software (I'll have a tutorial on my blog soon detailing how to do this with your camera ).
After consulting with Henry, myself and AccuWeather.com RadarPlus, Ron was in a great position to see the severe storms approaching from Pittsburgh. We knew he'd get flooding rain, high winds and hail but I never expected to see this. Here's what the radar looked like as he was taking the video:

Just so you know Ron was REALLY in for it, check out the 2-hour lightning strikes just before the storm hit. It looks like an arrow pointed at him.
