And Snow It Begins: Thanksgiving Storm Rumors
Last year this time, a major winter storm in the Northeast was rumored for the biggest travelling day of the year (the day before Thanksgiving). And so it is again this year:
As I did last year, I'd caution you to watch for changes in the models over the next few days, as they are (once again, though not as bad as last year) performing badly today. No estimate of areal coverage of snow or amounts this weekend will be accurate.
The situation is almost unfolding exactly like last year; about a week before Thanksgiving, models started hinting at a storm on Thanksgiving, then they moved it out to sea, and now they have brought it back. Will the forecast "stick"? Generally models are reliable at 3-4 days out so let's give it until Monday, folks.
I'll be doing my annual Thanksgiving weather roundup next week but right now it looks like we could get the first snowflakes on Thanksgiving here in State College, PA, since 2005.
