An Unusually Warm Night in New York City
Mark Vogan pointed out on his blog this week that some places in the Northeast U.S. had very high temperatures overnight Sunday into Monday, specifically New York City. Although there were many readings in the 80s that night according to NOAA's MesoWest, including Washington, D.C., LaGuardia Airport in New York City never fell below 84! A low temperature map is shown below.
LaGuardia was not listed along with 54 other stations that set new daily "high minimums" -- 13 of which were new records for June! Two stood out as the highest overnight temperatures ever observed: Seabrook Farms, New Jersey only dropped to 81, while Cumberland, Maryland hit 78.
