Alberto: Waterspout on Outer Banks
The remnants of Tropical Storm Alberto have spawned a waterspout that was observed by multiple people on North Carolina's Outer Banks this afternoon between 2:30 and 2:45 p.m. Notice in the radar loop that the approaching storm was tagged by NEXRAD radar as having a tornadic signature, which is rarely present in hurricane-spawned tornadoes. The government was able to issue a Tornado Warning (shown in red on the map below) for the Outer Banks well in advance of the storm's arrival.
