Alberto Unimpressive Tuesday Morning
Tropical Storm Alberto is quite unimpressive Tuesday morning. Most of the large thunderstorms have disappeared and the "eye" is coming on shore with little fanfare -- and no rain. Wind reports are weak at best, in fact the WRF computer forecast model initialization has deleted all Tropical Storm force winds from the storm system.

One problem that the storm has is that dry air is wrapping in at upper levels (see orange color below), and the upper-level center has become disassociated with the surface center (see x's below, surface center is southwest of upper-level center). Unless storm systems have their components lined up in the atmosphere (vertically speaking), they tend to weaken.

Now that's not to say that there won't be more action from this storm, especially in the form of thunderstorms in the general area which could spawn tornadoes. But this landfall is not going to be an impressive one. Let's hope that Floridians don't feel this was a "cry wolf" situation and become complacent in hurricane preparations later this year.
I'm working up some radar and satellite loops which will be posted later today, to show the storm in its trek to the Sunshine State.
