Alberto Flooding Not Yet Over in NC
USAToday has an article today about the flooding from Alberto, which continues in eastern North Carolina this weekend. Sometimes people forget that river flooding affects areas days to weeks after the passage of a major rain event.

The is currently at the Moderate Flood Stage of 20.72 feet (saved graph) and is forecast to crest at 26.8 feet Monday morning, beating Hurricane Fran in 1996 which pushed it to 26.6 feet, but not Hurricane Floyd in 1999 which topped the river out at 41.5 feet. The Tar River at Rocky Mount is at Major Flooding Stage and has already crested at 19.83 feet (saved graph). Previous record was 32.35 feet during Fran.
The Neuse River at Smithfield is at Major Flooding Stage (22.6 feet) (saved graph) but will crest tonight at 23 feet, not exceeding it's record of 27.4 feet during Hurricane Fran.
