AccuWeather At The Movies
Several of our employees have featured cameos in background scenes in a handful of major movies this Fall. First AccuWeather supplied the makers of "Morning Glory" with stock footage of our weathercasters to help fill the screens in the TV studio where the movie takes place. Here's a shot of the "lobby" with Mary Yoon on-screen -- from the trailer (at timestep 1:24).
AccuWeather's Mike Smith has a review of the movie (which includes a weatherman). Sidenote: Ironically, there is also a meteorological phenomenon known as a "Morning Glory Cloud" that I have blogged about before.
Next up, the movie "Unstoppable" was filmed last year here in Central Pennsylvania, home of AccuWeather HQ [Google Map]. As you can see if you watch the movie, it took a while to film - watch closely and you will see the trees change from Fall to Winter to Spring all during one "day" of the plot.
At least two AccuWeather employees played "extras" (one as a County Sheriff) in the movie. The trailer is linked below (not sure if contains shots of our crew or not). I saw this in the theater Saturday and it was action-packed, and I saw many familiar sights.
And finally from the movie world, our own Katie Fehlinger will appear in the Director's Cut DVD version of "Piranha 3-D," giving (of course) the AccuWeather.com Spring Break Forecast.
TV Sidenote: AccuWeather's Jim Kosek and Joe Bastardi also appeared in several segments of "The World's Worst Weather" which aired on Discovery channel earlier this month. The 3-part series showcased the most extreme storm footage worldwide, and they were there to help explain how severe weather events occur. A lot of my storm chasing Facebook friends also were featured.
