A Wet Week in Florida
Jimmy Dorf said on our Facebook page, "Since Sunday the rains in the afternoons in Delray beach Florida have been intense. I have got a little over 5 inches in my rain gauge & its still raining right now,whats going on A.W.?"
It has indeed been a wet week in Florida, Jimmy, with most of the state getting over an inch of rain, many areas seeing more than 5 inches and some areas south of Tallahassee getting upwards of a foot according to the NWS Gauge-Adjusted Doppler-Precip Site!
The rain this week was not caused by any Tropical Storms (which typically bring heavy rain to the state this time of year) - instead a stalled frontal system was the culprit. The weather has since dried out a little in parts of the state, but hit-and-miss downpours will continue across the state this Labor Day Weekend.
