A Very Model Christmas
The weather for Christmas Day will be unremarkable but nice across most of the nation, according to the leading worldwide computer Forecast Model [JessePedia]. Join me tomorrow when I show actual snow cover maps and find out who had a White Christmas.
In Europe, the GFS computer model predicts that a frontal system with rain will be moving through the U.K., dropping rain on the existing snow cover there, and giving a little new snow cover to parts of northern Spain and southern France, at least by the evening.

EUROPE SNOW COVER 18Z DECEMBER 25TH
Here in the U.S., according to the high-resolution WRF model, when you wake up tomorrow in the Western U.S., there will be some light snow in the Rockies and mountains of the Pacific Northwest, with a thin band of light to moderate snow moving through the northern Plains. This area will move southeast by evening, while heavy rain and snow move into Washington and Oregon.
In the East, lake-effect snow will persist in favored areas of New England, while spotty showers will dot Florida. Rain will move on-shore and northward into the Carolinas by evening.
Here's our official forecast for the U.S.; have a Happy Holiday.
