A Snowy Super Bowl XL
It's a snowy day in Detroit (see weather cameras & webcams) as Superbowl XL gets underway. I personally don't follow sports but I understand the enthusiasm from my fellow Pennsylvanians since the Pittsburgh Steelers have made it to the final cut.
According to CNNSI, this is the first Super Bowl in a cold-weather city since 14 years ago. And cold it will be in Detroit this year. Snow will continue at game time tonight, along with a brisk breeze that will make it feel very cold. The official AccuWeather.com forecast for this evening shows RealFeel temperatures between 0 and 20 degrees.
Detroit's official station reported only 1.1" of snow this weekend, but some areas to their northwest received up to 10 inches. Here are the highest snowfall reports this afternoon from the National Weather Service office in Detroit :
FAIRGROVE: 10.0"
ELBA: 9.5"
METAMORA: 9.5"
WHITE LAKE: 8.2"
