A Kinder, Warmer Wisconsin
The city of Milwaukee is looking to improve its image by moving the official weather recording station away from the lake, according to this article.
Of course, who ever thought up this gem doesn't realize that it's pretty much impossible to move a government weather station and the pilots at the airport won't take too kindly to having their weather station carted off. If the station were moved, its normal temperature would be listed as "missing" for 30 years, which is the minimum time allowed for a station to show climactic data.
A better idea would be for them to publish records from a nearby official station.
But as you can see by the image below, unless they think that the psychological difference between a 49 and a 50 is worth it, average temperatures so far this year have not varied more than a degree or two in the area.
They should be happy as it is -- they have 3 inches of snow on the ground today, making for a White Christmas this year. The last time they had snow on the ground on December 23 was the year 2000! That's especially surprising since they usually should have a 2/3 chance.
