A Foot of Rain in the Gulf, What Now?
The storm is on the move early Wednesday morning, but over land.
AccuWeather.com Professional's Joe Bastardi wrote at 3 AM: "Tropical trouble maker today moves northeast to north of Houston by tonight. Squalls to gale force on coast to south, local rains next 48 hours to 10 inches in southeast Texas".
The NHC says at 5:30 AM: "THE AREA OF LOW PRESSURE LOCATED WELL-INLAND OVER SOUTHERN TEXAS IS PRODUCING CLOUDINESS AND THUNDERSTORMS PRIMARILY OVER THE EXTREME NORTHWESTERN GULF OF MEXICO. DEVELOPMENT IS NO LONGER EXPECTED SINCE THE SYSTEM WILL LIKELY CONTINUE TO MOVE FARTHER INLAND. LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL WILL LIKELY CONTINUE PRIMARILY OVER PORTIONS OF THE TEXAS COAST TODAY."
Rain in the last 24 hours has added up to over a foot (12 inches) offshore and the 6-inch line is creeping onshore this morning.
