A Dark and Stormy Night in Wichita on the Dropcam
A thunderstorm with frequent lightning affected the Wichita, Kansas, area Wednesday night, between 1 and 2 a.m. Central Time. It was caught on the Dropcam weather webcam that I had installed at our AccuWeather Enterprise Solutions office downtown (you can see the live feed here). This was the best strike from that video:
You can watch the entire video below; it starts out with a time-lapse movie of the lightning, then provides the real-time camera feed during the height of the storm.
I visited our Wichita office in 2007. Wichita has been in a drought but has not received as many storms as they typically would this summer. The map below shows that they have seen a one or two-class improvement over the last two months, but they are still considered to be in a Moderate or Severe Drought.
