ORIGINAL POST:
Some absolutely incredible lake-effect snow storm totals have been reported to the NWS [JessePedia] today. I'll let the numbers speak for themselves (see list above).
In Scriba, New York, 27 inches fell in 12 hours yesterday. "Meteorologists" (whoever they might be) say that totals could exceed 100 inches (over 8.5 feet) before it's all said and done, according to KARE. NEWS10NOW has an excellent photo and some video. It sounds bad, but in January 2004 the Oswego County area received the following, according to News10Now:
Jan 6-9: 12-24"
Jan 18-21: 6-12"
Jan. 22-24: 24-36"
Jan. 28-31: 48-84"
Our official forecast calls for at least a foot tonight in favored areas.
