5th Sighting of KH Wave Clouds
OK folks, I give up. It would appear that Kelvin-Helmholtz wave clouds are not as "rare" as some websites claim, as we just got another photo of them, taken yesterday in Tennessee. Thanks go out to TNWXMAN from Parrottsville, TN for providing this photo to the WeatherMatrix/AccuWeather.com Photo Gallery.
According to the photographer, this photo was taken after a thunderstorm, so this would seem to indicate that, not only are the cloud formations not uncommon, they are not rare in cloudy situations (something that I assumed based on the number of blue-sky sightings in my original article).
By the way, Wikipedia has an entry on KH Waves -- I'm not sure why I didn't link to it before.
