The WeatherMatrix StormMatrix listed 1,653 storms detected by NEXRAD radar nationally. Despite all the lightning, the storms are not unusually severe so far... the government's Storm Prediction Center did not even issue a Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms for anywhere in the nation this afternoon, and only 32 severe weather reports had been received as of this writing. About 100 Severe Thunderstorm Warnings have been issued, which pales in comparison to this spring's outbreaks, and few were in effect at any one time.
