40 Inches of Snow In Northwest
The Pacific Northwest and British Columbia, Canada, have been pounded again with heavy rain and snow. According to CNN, avalanches and mudslides in Washington closed roads and blocked trains, and power and phone service was out in parts of Oregon.

AVALANCHE DANGER
- January 30, 2006 - In this photo provided by the Washington State Department of Transportation and released Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, snow from an avalanche is shown after it flowed over a protective structure covering the westbound lanes of Interstate 90, right, and covered the eastbound lanes near Snoqualmie Pass, Wash. Heavy snow and several avalanches shut down the state's major east-west freeway for the second time in two days. The pass reopened Monday morning after it was closed for 16 hours.
