25,000 Facebook Fans, Or: J-Z Back on Camera
I feel a little like Jay-Z coming out of retirement tonight. Despite my saying my last video was really my last appearance on-camera, Henry (who oversees our news & video coverage on AccuWeather.com) convinced me to go on-air one more time today. Once again, it was for a good cause: Our Facebook Fan page.
Although a lot of different people provide content to our Fan Page, it's usually me doing the updates -- so I couldn't put the job off on anyone else. We are the largest weather company page on Facebook, and tonight we'll see our 25,000th fan. Ironically, we hit this milestone while I was writing this blog when a friend of mine from high school, Kelly Pipes, became a fan after seeing me post this video to my personal Profile on Facebook. I swear I didn't plan that, but to be fair I'll be looking in the Prize Closet, aka the bottom drawer at my desk, for a prize to send to him AND #24,999 & #25,001 as well.
The reason we did the video was that milestone, along with Facebook announcing this week that they now have over 300 million (300,000,000) active users worldwide - it would be the 4th largest county if it were one.
As I said in the video, Fans have access to exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and can converse directly with AccuWeather.com staff. If you haven't yet, please consider becoming a fan.
