Blog reader David sent me this news tip. Portions of the Florida keys have suffered under more than a foot of heavy rain today.

The NWS [JessePedia] reported this morning that 5.38" of rain was measured at the Aqueduct Authority at Long Key in a little over two hours. A park ranger at the Long Key state park reported that flood waters had overtaken the campground road and were entering the concession shop.
According to computer forecast models, this particular area of heavy rain in Florida will move off towards the northeast, staying separated from the Valentine's Day Storm, although a general southerly flow will aid in increased precipitation for the Northeast.
