12Z NMM on Friday Northeast Winter Storm
Here's what the NMM Forecast Model [JessePedia] from our Pro site is showing for the evolution of Friday's winter storm in the Northeast. This is not that different than previous runs. I'll be curious to see if the 12Z GFS agrees... stay tuned.
At first blush, this looks really exciting, with heavy snow moving over the interior of the Northeast, but it's a fast-moving system. As I said in the Forums, where I also posted a snowcover map:
Our official forecast map is out (I apologize for the vagueness) and looks like Weather Headlines (PREMIUM | PRO) ...seemingly in disagreement with the NMM. This is probably because the "other" model, the GFS, showed a little more rain and ice last night (and to a lesser extent overnight). Still, we seem to be unusually conservative with the snow amounts, and I wouldn't be surpised to see a change in this map later today. Stay tuned to the Weather Headlines at right for more information and future maps.
