100 MPH Winds Take Down 100-Yr. Old Trees in West
As a followup to a story about high winds in Montana which we wrote yesterday, winds were gusting over 80 mph over nine states yesterday and today (you may recall my blog about a similar situation last week) , especially at the high mountain peaks. The storm knocked out power and downed trees in Washington and brought unseasonably cold weather and snow to the passes. The video below states that 100-year-old trees were uprooted by the storm in Washington state. The winds are moving eastward into the Northern Plains today.

Mount Coffin, Wyoming: 113 mph
Rattlesnake Mountain, Washington: 102 mph
Slide Mountain, California: 97 mph
Logan Pass, Montana: 93 mph
Hoyt Peak, WY: 93 mph
Titus Peak, Idaho: 90 mph
Odgen Peak, Utah: 89 mph
Stevens Pass, WA: 87 mph
Berthoud, Colorado: 87 mph*
Boulder, CO: 84 mph
Lostine, Oregon: 82 mph

Temperatures also fell to as low as 6 degrees in the Wyoming mountains this morning, as you can see from the map below.
