10 Inches of Rain Near Cleveland

Heavy rain last night (as much as 10 inches per the National Weather Service) has prompted evacuations near Eastlake Ohio. Lake County has declared a state of emergency. Some homes were flooded and rescues were taking place, sometimes from rooftops.

DOPPLER-ESTIMATED 24-HOUR PRECIP
The Grand River at Painesville reached its previous record flood stage of 13.16 feet in 1979. But today it crested at 17.36 feet before it began to fall this morning (see graph).
