Breaking Down the Winter Forecast by Month
Before I get to the winter stuff......There will be 2 to 3 surges of cold air pushing down through the eastern Prairies then into eastern Canada over the next two weeks.
Each air mass will be slightly colder than the previous one and many areas far enough away from the Great Lakes across eastern Canada will see there first snow showers or flurries of the season, especially around the 23rd or 24th.
Lake water temperatures are still very warm (+14 to +16 C.), which will add to the instability. However, the warmth of the lakes will modify temperatures along the shore regions which are downwind of the lakes and thus we will be mostly looking at rain showers and perhaps a few wet flakes, especially on the 24th.
