Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Chilly air to linger for festivities on Sunday
Chilly, dry conditions are forecast for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Philadelphia on Sunday, March 11.
While St. Patrick’s Day is on Saturday, March 17, the time-honored parade is typically held the Sunday prior to the holiday.
Thousands of spectators will line the parade route, which will begin around 15th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard at noon EST and end at Penn’s Landing around 3:00 p.m. EST.

It should remain dry and cool in Philadelphia for the parade, according to AccuWeather Meteorologist Brett Rathbun.
“Those heading to the parade early Sunday morning will want to bring a winter coat, as temperatures will start out in the 20s Fahrenheit,” Rathbun added.
Temperatures are likely to climb into the lower 40s for the duration of the parade.
Typically, Philadelphia’s high on March 11 is 51 F.
While temperatures will be below normal for the day, the air will not be nearly as harsh as last year’s parade, when the high temperature was only 33 F.
“A storm moving across the Southeast will stay far enough away to prevent any precipitation during the parade,” Rathbun said.

Parade-goers will not have to worry about adding any rain gear to their warm attire.
The Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade is one of the oldest parades in the country, with origins dating back to 1771.
The largest annual parade in Philadelphia boasts approximately 20,000 participants, topping the city’s famed Mummers Parade that is held on New Year’s Day.
