Parts of central Texas were completely underwater over last weekend and into early this week after a month's worth of rain fell in a matter of days.
At least two people were killed in the flooding, officials said.
After a wet September, dams were already at capacity. The additional rainfall caused rivers to swell, leading to widespread flooding.
In Austin, more water fell during the course of a week into Lake Travis than what usually falls in four years, Lower Colorado River Authority General Manager Phil Wilson said at a press briefing, according to the Austin Statesman.
“This is a historic flood,” Wilson said.
A bridge collapsed in Kingsland, Texas, sending pieces of debris down the Llano River and prompting local evacuations.

Santa Ana winds gusted to speeds that reached hurricane force in some locations this week in Southern California.
An 82-mph wind gust was reported in Freemont Canyon on Monday.
A woman was killed after a tree fell on her car outside her apartment complex in Tustin, according to the LA Times.
Winds gusted as high as 68 mph at times. Trees and power lines were ripped down in Malibu, San Bernadino and other areas around Los Angeles.
At least 60,000 were without power early this week.

Nine climbers were killed at a base camp of Mount Gurja in the Himalayas of western Nepal when a snowstorm struck on Saturday, Oct. 13.
The weather conditions were so severe that a rescue helicopter was unable to land at the scene. Trees were broken and scattered across the area, officials said.
The team consisted of five people from South Korea and four Nepali guides, according to BBC News.
