Germany: Widespread thunderstorms to threaten outdoor plans this week
Powerful thunderstorms struck parts of Germany over the weekend, producing flooding and injuring at least two people.
Two women were struck by lightning, suffering serious injuries, according to the Associated Press.
One of the women remained in intensive care on Monday after the pair were struck while take selfies during a walk.

The violent storms also produced flash flooding which inundated homes, businesses and roadways across central Germany.
Firefighters had to rescue two women who were trapped in their car following a mudslide in Hesse, according the Associated Press.
Dozens of flights were canceled at airports across the country due to the storms.
Little change in the weather pattern is forecast in the coming days as unseasonable heat will be accompanied by daily thunderstorms.
The areas at greatest risk for multiple thunderstorms through Thursday include Munich, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Cologne and Hanover.
These storms will be capable of producing flash flooding and frequent lightning.

The strongest storms can result in damaging winds and hail and cause significant travel disruptions.
Farther north and east, the threat for thunderstorms will be more isolated from Hamburg to Berlin and Dresden through Thursday before increasing from Friday into the weekend.
The recent unseasonable warmth is expected to continue into next early next; however, there could be several days of drier and more tranquil weather across the country during this time.
